"How To Cure Your Yeast
Infection: Part 5"
Hi again and welcome to lesson five of our
course. It's time to talk about all of your options for getting
rid of that annoying yeast infection.
Now that you know some of the causes and symptoms of a yeast
infection, you're ready to learn the many treatment options
available to you. Today, we'll delve into the different ways you
can cure your yeast infection: from prescription and Over The
Counter (OTC) medication to all-natural methods.
First let's just rewind and recap your visit to the doctor.
Going to the gynecologist is the last thing any woman wants to
do, but your visit to confirm your suspicions of a yeast
infection will prove simple and painless. Your doctor will take
a swab from your vagina and send it to the lab to be tested for
yeast and other vaginal infections. That's it!
Remember, though, you are the key to a successful diagnosis.
Talk openly with your doctor, and share all of your symptoms and
concerns even if they seem irrelevant. Your doctor needs the
proper information in order to correctly diagnosis, so consider
yourself his partner and tell him everything and ask plenty of
questions, if you have them.
What treatment options are available?
You've probably seen all of those commercials promoting creams
that promise to cure you of your vaginal yeast infections. The
problem is 'cure' probably makes you think of 'gone forever',
'permanent', 'never to return', right? Not the case.
Most OTC and prescription creams (which are basically the same
as OTC only more powerful) are merely temporary solutions that
only treat the outer problem, the symptoms of a yeast infection.
They don't treat the underlying problems, the root causes of
yeast infections.
Therefore, your yeast infection will clear up quickly, but
you'll likely face another one in a week or two.
You can get OTC treatments in the form of a cream (treatment can
last one day, three days or ten days depending on which cream
you purchase) or suppositories. Prescription treatments
generally come in creams, suppositories and pills.
If you decide to use a prescription or OTC, make sure you know
all the pros and cons of such a treatment. I discuss this in-depth in my book "I
Cured My Yeast Infections... And You Can Too". One thing that might surprise you is prescription
treatments could make your infection worse instead of better.
There can be side effects like vaginal burning, stomach upset,
loss of appetite, altered taste, diarrhea, nausea, headache or
dizziness. Some women have allergic reactions to these drugs
resulting in rashes, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble
breathing... the list goes on.
In fact, one of the drugs commonly prescribed for yeast
infections - butoconazole - was mentioned in a recent ABC News
report. Of all drugs on the market, butoconazole is among the
Top Ten drugs reported to the FDA for causing adverse reactions.
Of course, if you don't like using medications that could harm
your body in the long run, you'll have plenty of all-natural
options to treat your yeast infection.
One good, all-natural treatment that I'm sure you've already
heard about is yogurt. Such a natural remedy may be a better
choice since not all women can use prescriptions or OTC
medications due to age or condition.
While probiotic yogurt is the most commonly known, there are
plenty of other natural treatments for yeast infections which in
most cases are even more effective. My book includes a list of
several proven natural treatments that will give you great
results. You'll learn how to use each, including proper dosages
where necessary.
But if you want to try yogurt first, here are some tips.
- Ensure it is plain and
unsweetened yogurt
- You also want to make sure the
yogurt you choose has both live cultures and acidophilus.
(This is absolutely essential.)
- Insert the yogurt into your
vagina and leave for several hours or even better, overnight.
- There are a number of ways you
can do this, which are all covered in my book. However one of
the more interesting methods is as follows...
- Put yogurt into the fingers of
a rubber glove and then freeze.
- Once you've got your yogurt
"suppositories," insert them for some nearly instant relief.
- A side benefit of freezing the
yogurt is that the coolness will help soothe the heat of the
inflammation in the vaginal area
You may have to do this over several days until you notice the
symptoms disappearing. That's why some of the other methods in
my book are preferred - they act much faster.
In the next article
I'll introduce you to my
safe and effective Multi-Step home
remedy. It's all-natural, so your body will love it and you
won't have to worry about annoying side effects of prescription
and OTC treatments. It's been specially designed to attack the
problem from many angles to completely eliminate all traces of
the yeast infection.
However, if you suspect you have a yeast infection now, make
sure you make an appointment with your doctor as soon as
possible. Waiting to diagnose and to start treatment is never a
good idea.
